New Agreement will Support International Students’ Career Planning

King’s will be able to provide more support to international students as they integrate into the local and regional job market upon graduation with the signing of a new partnership agreement.

King’s has partnered with Immploy, a London-based initiative that seeks to connect employers with new Canadians to foster economic prosperity.

“Immploy offers an opportunity for students to make valuable career connections in the local community.  International students who have graduated from King’s, or from an eligible Canadian institution, have the opportunity to work in Canada on a post-graduation work permit. Immploy’s mentor program will support King’s students in making the career connections they need to find a job position locally in their chosen field of study.  When students can match their skills and knowledge with positions available in the job market, everyone benefits,” says Dr. Linda Weber, Manager, King’s International.

“Our partnership with Immploy will help our international students to further develop their network to access career and employment opportunities in London and throughout the region. This is part of the commitment at King’s to support student transitions and success,” says Joe Henry, Dean of Students.

There will be a mentor program in place to encourage King’s employees to support international students in their job searches by sharing advice and guiding them through the job and career search process. When King’s employees choose to become mentors, Immploy will offer training so mentors can guide mentees as it relates to their own career experiences. For example, mentors may choose to invite mentees to professional gatherings to introduce them to their professional network.

With the agreement, King’s is now an Immploy Corporate Champion. “We are thankful for (King’s) support in connecting skilled immigrants with established professionals in our community,” says Antwayne Stewart, Online Program Coordinator with Immploy.

Immploy began as the London Middlesex Immigrant Employment Task Force in 2006 and evolved into the London Middlesex Immigrant Employment Council in 2008 before being rebranded as Immploy in May 2018.
